South Africa might be labeled a bit rusty, although some players have been involved in some T20I actions lately, anchor players like Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis will make their long awaited comebacks to the rest arena. The last time Smith captained the South African test side was against Pakistan at Centurion back in February 2013. Kallis on the other hand last played professional cricket during the 2013 IPL for KKR. It will be interesting to see if South Africa bank on their pace bowler, or whether they include both Robin Peterson and Imran Tahir in the starting line-up. Philander, Steyn and Morkel is a formidable test bowling line-up, but they will not get any help from the warm and slow conditions in Abu Dhabi.

Pakistan will fancy their chances, as captain Misbah-ul-Haq looks to make use of the well-known conditions to score a rare test series win against South Africa, who are the number one test side in the world. Saeed Ajmal and Abdul Rehman will be the biggest hope for Pakistan, as South Africa are not known to play spin well, particularly in the conditions which awaits them. Rahat Ali and Mohammad Irfan has also both proved themselves in the rest arena, and will be difficult to contend with. As usual Paksitan are a much better bowling side, with a few very inexperienced players in the batting line-up.

Pakistan have won just 3 of the 21 test matches contested between the two sides, meaning they will have to play out of their skins to take get the win.
