10 T20I matches has been played between the two sides, with Pakistan leading the head to head with 6 wins, and just the four losses. The neutral venue should even things out pretty well, and many expect that spin bowling will be the major factor in deciding who goes home with the series win.

Pakistan will be captained by Mohammad Hafeez, in what is a familiar looking Pakistan squad. Two uncapped and relatively unknown players have been added, which might be a surprise factor for Sri Lanka. Usman Khan is a 19 year old left arm seamer, with 16 wicket behind his name after 11 Twenty2 domestic fixtures. 24 year old Sharjeel Khan is a top order batsman, with a very decent domestic record behind his name. Pakistan will as in South Africa rely heavily on their bowling unit, who just keep on delivering the goods.

The Sri Lankan T20I squad is loaded with match winner galore. They have plenty of game changers with both bat and ball, a very valuable asset in T20I cricket. Dinesh Chandimal will captain the side, with plenty of experience by his side. It will be interesting to see if Kusal Perera has managed to curb his enthusiasm for stroke play, as he will likely open the innings with Dilshan. Kusal Perera has been labeled the new Sanath Jayasuria, but has failed to live up to expectation of yet.

With the slow nature of the pitches in the UAE, expect the bowlers to dominate the series, with very low scored throughout.
