The Providence Stadium in Guyana will host the second ODI match between the West Indies and Pakistan on Tuesday. Pakistan won the opening match of the series, after beating a hapless looking Windies side by 126 runs, bowling them out for under a 100, in what was a poor batting display by the host side.

Despite winning the  first ODI comfortably, Pakistan’s top order were horribly out of form with the bat. They’ve struggled to get an opening pair together that can lay a solid foundation on a consistent basis. Nasir Jamshed showed potential at the start of his career, but has since tapered off, his average dropping by more than 12 runs after his last 11 ODI innings’. Afridi provided the much needed flair for his side, but the youngsters will have to come to the party, Captain Misbah-ul_haq doing a great job of leading by example, adding value to his wicket.

The host side has similar problems in the batting department, they have a star studded top 6 that just can’t seem to find form at the same time. They are too dependent on Chris Gayle at the top of the order, his opening partner Johnson Charles has showed some potential the last few games, but also proved his inconsistency of late. The Windies seem to be returning to the old times, with a pace attack that can strike fear into any opposition side. Kemar Roach has come on in leaps and bounds, and has now teamed up with Jason Holder, a 21 year old who looks to be taking the world by storm. If they produce a similar performance to the first ODI, the Pakistan top order simply won’t be able to cope with the pace.

It’s still anyone game and series, both sides have the ability to win on the day, question is who will use their opportunities the best?
